As a world renowned pediatric surgeon, Dr. Saad Saad has had a number of children brought to him from the Middle East so he could perform complex surgeries on them. It was in 2002 when he became affiliated with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF). This organization is a nonprofit dedicated to helping children. His first case involved a teenager who had been shot. Local surgeons did what they could for him but they weren’t skilled enough to really fix his injuries.

Dr. Saad Saad said that this teenager was in pretty bad shape when he saw him at a New Jersey hospital. He had a number of holes in his stomach from previous surgeries as well as the bullet wound. Over the course of seven hours he operated on this teenager and was able to patch the internal injuries as well as all of the holes. After recovering this teenager was in far better health and he was returned to Palestine. Learn more: https://health.usnews.com/doctors/saad-saad-966528

Another child that was sent to Dr. Saad Saad had been in a bomb explosion. This left him paralyzed in one of his legs. He recognized that this child needed a nerve transplant which is not a procedure he performs. He was able to find a doctor who did this type of surgery, though, and handled all the details of getting this child the medical care he needed. Eventually, this child was healed and able to return to not only walking but playing his favorite sport which is soccer.

Dr. Saad Saad has also traveled to Palestine eight times on medical missions. While there he performs surgeries on children who need it and he does so free of charge. These children all come from impoverished backgrounds and their parents have no means to pay for surgeries their children desperately need. While there, he also shows surgeons there his techniques so that even more children are saved.
