George Soros was not always the prosperous American that he is now. He was not always the most influential subscriber to the liberal philosophy of the Democratic Party either. However, since his birth, George Soros had always three inherent qualities that have throughout his life, continuously persisted in directing the cause of his life and actions. The qualities include;
- Hard work
The intelligent George Soros was born in the historical era when the Nazi Regime sought to drive Jews into extinction and to take over the world with their tyranny. He was born Jewish in the war-torn Hungarian Budapest, and he had to, together with his family, fraudulently denounce their Jewish descent and lay low to survive. The Nazi Regime massacred over 500,000 Jewish who had not been lucky enough to pull off the scam that kept the Soros family and those that the family assisted in forging identity papers and staying alive. When the opportunity presented itself, the intelligent George Soros left behind multitudes who had been grateful for their lives and his compassionate nature. He went to London to pursue an education.
The Hardworking George Soros put himself through the London School of Economics by working double shifts, one as a manual laborer and one as a casual laborer. He left to the United States to pursue the American dream equipped with enough knowledge to take on the stock markets and the investment environments. His intelligence and hard work coupled up to forge a formidable path of success. The phenomenal economist went on to amass wealth, consolidating it into a hedge fund that he started by 1971. With his financial muscle maturing, the compassionate nature of the hardworking and intelligent economist started to manifest in his endeavors. However, through his compassion, his ideology came to manifest through his actions. He was a Liberal mind and he could not stomach to stand on the sidelines as people pushed to emancipate themselves from oppressive regimes that punished them for being born in a certain ethnic or racial group. He started funding all sorts of activism that opposed oppression. Initially, he funded South African activists protesting the Apartheid Rule to study and fight against the oppression. Gradually, he became involved with such causes across the whole world.

The Ferguson Protests
The people of Ferguson Island reacted violently to the extra-judicial killing of Michael Brown. The idea of protesting oppression and discrimination was worth supporting, and George Soros felt it could be done better than through disorganized and hateful violence. He lobbied all the civic groups that he has been funding and got them to further such causes into better organizing and to configure the Ferguson demonstrations. He spent over 33 million dollars sponsoring the protests against police brutality and racial profiling. His affiliates liaised with other interested parties to organize a nationwide demonstration to the Michael Brown extrajudicial killing and could it with coordinated and sponsored social media campaigns calling for oppressive police officers to be put to account for violating the constitutional gains made by the nation. The campaigns were all concerted into the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag.
No industry can solely survive on its own. All sectors of the economy seem to be somehow intertwined creating a mesh between them. However, one interesting relationship is between technology and fashion. It is amazing how the two industries complement each other. They have been doing so for ages and will continue doing so in the future. This was one of the things that have greatly fascinated Christopher Burch. This has made him invest a lot of his time, skills and financial resources in empowering companies that seek to venture into technology and fashion industries.
Burch is one of the most successful entrepreneurs having founded his company Burch Creative Capital where he is also the CEO. His business nurturing skills began back in his youth. While at Ithaca college, he and his brother named Bob began a company Eagle’s Eye which they grew to a $165 million from an investment of $2000. Burch has a deep understanding of the consumer behaviors and various business models. With his skills he has groomed many technology and luxury brands such as Poppin, Voss water and Faena Hotel + Universe just to mention a few.
According to Burch, people in the fashion industry consult technology in innovating products that sell since it enables them to create and test their designs without having to create prototypes of the products. Technology is also directly affected by the changes and trends in fashion. Burch uses the example of the transition of the music system from the boom box in the 70s, the two cassette decks in the 80s, the Walkman in the 90s and later a much smaller gadget; the Ipod in the 21st century. The two industries also assist each other in creating popularity. For example, the Google Glass was not considered fashionable until models of Diane Von Furstenberg wore them on a catwalk.
Burch says that an analysis of the past and current relations between the two can give a foretaste of how the two will work in the future. For example, more designers are coming up with fashion items that seek to protect the humans. An example is the Frontline Gloves for firefighters invented by Kevin Cannon and Ashwin Rajan. These gloves enhance the communication of firefighters during their missions. The future will also ensure that designers embrace recycling of materials. SegraSegra is one of the designers who have embraced technology in this way by creating jackets and t-shirts from recycled bicycle tubes. Designers will also incorporate energy saving and thus environment conservation in their inventions.
The Life Shattering Tragedies
The dictatorships of Venezuela have produced tragedy for Thor Halvorssen more than once in his life time. In the 90s his father, Thor Halvorssen Hellum, was arrested and falsely charged for efforts to investigate corruption within the Venezuelan government. Later on in 2004 he experienced an even more haunting tragedy with the death of his mother, Hilda Mendoza, at the hands of supporters of Hugo Chavez. These personal tragedies have had an effect of Halvorssen and made him into the freedom fighter he is today.
Standing Up For His Family
The biggest way that he fights for his family and for his birth country is through the Human Rights Foundation. For years the Human Rights Foundation has focused on trying to find ways to support the end of oppressive regimes and give people the power to decide how they will live their lives. The work he does has produced controversy and he has even faced the risk of violence for trying to expose corruption. Despite this he continues on and tries to pursue his goal with all of the might possible. Even to the point of risking his life.
Where His Work Stands Today
He continues to try to impact the lives of others and find ways to promote open societies. His work isn’t always easy but he doesn’t work alone. Thanks to the Oslo Freedom Forum, a meeting of human rights activists around the world. He is able to unite people together in their fight to spread freedom. Working with other activists he draws closer towards his dream of an open society for all. His fight isn’t an easy one but he knows he needs to take every step he can in order to work towards the bigger picture.
